Answering Facebook Group Questions From Members
I started a closed Facebook group with the goal of improving our patient education and communication, so we can all accomplish better outcomes with these people who’ve trusted us as guides to accomplish their goals. I think if we can improve our communication (verbal, visual and kinesthetic), we can better assist our patients in completion of their treatment plan (what that is it’s up to you) so they can accomplish their shot and long-term goals.
The purpose of this podcast is not to address ways we can do educate or communicate (you can get all of that in the group). The goal was to answer some of the questions I’ve had members ask me.
Here’s the questions/ talking points verbatim as they came to me after I asked, “What would you like to see from this group?”
- I’m hoping to learn more about what it’s like being a Sports DOC, as well as different ways to explain the various subjects to my future patients.
- See variety of approaches and implementation of active care into treatments so patients understand importance. What they learned I would say, but more of the patient communication aspect. Like listening to your podcast the different way people explain things to patients and talk about their approach with patient care
- My biggest inquire is about learning how to give proper patient education and understanding the verbiage for them to comply with the treatment and/or at home exercises. I am in student clinic not seeing athletes, just general population, and they just want the passive modalities and don’t want to work for their care even though it would benefit them greatly.
- My main goal, as a student, is to see what is working for those DC’s who are practicing and create my own system of patient education for when I am seeing patients. Then in turn sharing what works for me.
- I'm open to anything. Always working to recognize self selection bias when addressing individual patient needs. In short, evidence informed strategies (verbal or manual palliatives) to facilitate improved patient outcomes.
- I love talking cues! I’ll definitely have to listen to that soon! Thank you!
- Im looking to find new/better ways to inform and explain things to my clients/future patients...i have a love for fitness and just started chiro school with plans to be primarily a sports chiro.
- I would say clinical cases and how they were or could be approached. Also some business info could never go wrong.
